Making voices ties between people here

“A thousand years ago, I was not yet formed / when I had already rippled in this land nurtured by water. / A hundred years ago, people said that I was like a maiden waiting to bloom, / standing in the east of the city of Suzhou. / And so, I had the name, Jinji Lake...”

This is a poem written by He Jianming, a Suzhou-native reportage writer, for the first SIP Jinji Lake Recitation Competition. Like He, many renowned writers created works during the first edition of the competition to portray SIP’s evolution and achievements.

“SIP will celebrate the 30th anniversary next year, and following the tradition, we will invite Chinese and Singaporean poets to create works about it during the next competition,” said an executive of SIP Library.

Actually the SIP Jinji Lake Recitation Competition has become an important platform for people to know about SIP and its culture.
