There are the tools and scripts for xuanjuan performances, the simulated scene of women singing folk songs while picking lotus flowers on water, and traditional dress and accessories for women on display in the showcases.
Statistics show that the sub-district has preserved over 300 folk songs and more than 140 xuanjuan works. However, the preservation of the techniques used to make the traditional dresses once encountered difficulties.
Typically, a traditional Shengpu-style dress is composed of eight parts including headscarf, tops, trousers and shoes, and parts of the clothes have double embroidered edges.
The techniques of making such dresses were once on the verge of being lost due to simplified process. Fortunately, Huang Liqing, an old tailor in the sub-district, remembers the whole set of techniques. At the invitation of the sub-district office, he spent 10 days making a suit of clothes with the techniques for SIP Archives Management Center.
