The first “Drawing SIP” event started at Suzhou Center on Dec 9, when the participants enjoyed a tour to sculptures around Jinji Lake.
Over 40 participants first viewed the “Cloud Tree” by famous Chinese sculptor Sui Jianguo. They listened to the introduction by Shi Wanwan, a sculptor and master supervisor at School of Art of Soochow University.
Then the participants visited the “Skateboarding Boys”, a copper sculpture at Jinji Lake Music Fountain Square, and “The Past” and “Rabbit” at Jinji Lake Bridge.
In the last leg of the tour, the participants gained a good knowledge of the “Into the Play” which features a huge rectangular frame risen by two hands.
The participants then drew sketches of things that they feel impressive during the tour. Their works are expected to be exhibited in public spaces in SIP and on the WeChat mini program called “SIP Culture Online”.
