The 2nd SIP Citizens Art Festival, themed on “Culture ? Growing with the City”, caused a sensation as soon as it kicked off. SIP Public Cultural Center promoted a series of events to give residents in SIP wonderful cultural and art experiences and spread the culture of SIP.
More than 200 events were designed to offer the residents opportunities to enjoy top-class art works, performances and literature from all over the world.
Live streams of ten art museums are available on line, showing the viewers amazing exhibitions including the “Art Encounters with Jay”, curated by Mandopop star Jay Chou, and collections of Musée Magritte Museum of Belgium and Centre Pompidou and Fondation Le Corbusier of France. Concurrently, information on offline exhibitions is offered.
Art museums were integrated with environmental theatre to guide the participants to explore the relations between themselves and the art works and make the exhibition venues the places not only for showing beauty but also for discovering and creating beauty.
The urban sculpture art exhibition allows the visitors to gain a better understanding of the urban development and public art of SIP.
A variety of “reading lists” have been recommended at breakfast food trucks, cafes, stores and industrial parks to encourage reading.
The “Digital Twin of Caoxieshan Site”, a short animated video, and the “Voice from Cultural Heritage”, an audio program comprising stories about history, make the audiences feel like being transported back in time to ancient times.
The Intangible Cultural Heritage Recommenders, a video program, allows the audiences to see the intangible cultural heritage elements and folk customs of Suzhou from the perspectives of international friends.
A number of games were created online for the participants to learn about SIP’s history and culture in interesting ways and accumulate points to exchange for gifts.
