The water and light shows of Jinji Lake Music Fountain have amazed many visitors to SIP recently. Compared with the previous versions, the new shows designed for the May Day holiday match well with the light displays on Oriental Arc, Linglong Island, Peach Blossom Island, Jinji Lake Bridge and other buildings in the surrounding areas.
The upgrading of the water and light shows of the music fountain was part of the efforts to improve the facilities and landscapes around Jinji Lake. Thanks to a series of projects, the Jinji Lake banks are taking on a new look.
Stunning water and light shows
Both hardware and software have been improved, and new technology, equipment and music have been employed. The shows were devised to showcase local cultural elements and unique characteristics.
“By full-dimension application of waterscape in urban landscape, we succeeded in making the surroundings the background for the shows of the music fountain, thus creating an immersive scenario to give the viewers a better experience,” said Miao Guojun, who was in charge of the project.
Fashionable and convenient service stations
Recently, the service stations distributed around Jinji Lake have caught the attention of many people. Each of them boasts a distinctive look and unique functions.
The “cabin” near Lake Genève, a villa quarter by Jinji Lake, was designed by a design team of Galaxy Arch, a Shanghai-based atelier specializing in architectural and interior designs. It serves as a tourist service center where tourists can enjoy a cup of coffee and some light food and have a rest.
It is worth mentioning that there is Suzhou’s first café of the Italian coffee brand “illy” which offers not only coffee but also authentic Italian ice creams, cakes and chocolates.
The “garden in wind” near the “cabin” features another style. It has an aquatic sports-themed exhibition hall and a aquatic club, and also facilities for tourists.
There are a total of 11 service stations around Jinji Lake, which forms a 15-minute-walk service system for tourists to take a rest, seek information and get the help they need. All of the service stations have the reading corners, public toilets, rooms for mothers and infants and self-service vending machines, and all provide free drinking water.
Interactive lighting system for running at night
Running around Jinji Lake at night has been made interesting by the interactive lighting system newly installed at three running paths near the lake.
A runner can scan the designated QR code with his or her smart phone to enter the online intelligent night running system and establish a Bluetooth connection with the lighting system. Then, as the runner runs, the lights along both sides of the paths will change colors according to his or her speed. The system makes records of the running, and games are expected to be added in the future.
