The “Beautiful Canteen” in Xinzhen Community in SIP’s Weiting Sub-district has earned a good reputation among local residents since it came into operation 100 days ago.

The community-based canteen, jointly created by the CPC committees of the community and a partner company, is designed to provide safe, delicious and inexpensive meals to the aged, children of dual-income families and delivery workers who work outdoors.

The canteen provides nutritious suppers for children whose parents both work, and also set meals for people aged 60 and above at a price of RMB9. It also has a delivery team responsible for delivering food to the elderly with mobility problems.

Apart from that, the canteen offers food with a discount of 12% from 10:45am to 8:00pm for on-demand food delivery riders, couriers and other people engaged in new forms of employment.

The canteen also organizes various events such as those designed to help the elderly enhance interactions with contemporaries and young people and those aimed at increasing residents’ knowledge of health maintenance.
