The upgraded Jinji Lake Ferris Wheel is now in the final debugging stage, and is expected to be open to the public after the Chinese Spring Festival which, reckoned on the first day of the first month on the Chinese lunar calendar, will fall in late January this year.
The Ferris wheel, nicknamed “Suzhou’s eye”, was opened in 2009 as one of the biggest water Ferris wheels in the country, and the upgrading project was launched in 2022 for the purpose of giving passengers a better experience.
The upgraded Ferris wheel will be 128 meters high, eight meters higher than the original one. It will feature 28 rotary capsules with unique themes for not only sightseeing but also meetings and parties.
According to Suzhou Chiway Investment Group Co Ltd, the undertaker of the project, the Ferris wheel will go through a series of tests and debugging, and the surrounding facilities and environment will be improved.
