SIP announced to push forward 25 projects concerning people’s well-being in early 2024. So far, a number of the projects have been completed, while others are progressing well.
The Donggang Xincun residential quarter in Loufeng Sub-district has gotten a new look thanks to a renovation project covering eight zones with 308 buildings that are home to 10,604 households. Not only the facades of the buildings but also public spaces and pipe networks have been improved.
The second phase of The Fourth Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University (Suzhou Dushu Lake Hospital) is close to completion.
The project aimed at building 154 shelters and renovating 60 electronic information boards at the bus stops along rail transit lines 6, 7 and 8 by June 2025 has seen significant progress. So far, 120 shelters have been completed and all the electronic information boards renovated.
The Hongqiao and Wangjiao farm produce markets have been renovated and reopened, and the renovation of Qingyuan Farm Produce Market is expected to complete before the Spring Festival.
The huge sculpture “Flying”, which symbolizes the bright future of win-win cooperation between China and Singapore, has been set up on the square on the right bank of Jinji Lake, where new tourist service stations have been opened and public facilities improved.
In the northern part of SIP, the project designed to improve the landscape around Qingjian Lake is progressing fast. A pedestrian overpass has been set up across Xinghu Street for sightseeing, and most of the renovated areas have been opened to the public.
In the southern part of SIP, a 12.6-kilometer landscape belt that is part of the Wusong River Ecological Corridor, an ecological corridor linking Suzhou and Shanghai, is taking shape.
