Shen Mi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Suzhou Committee and secretary of the CPC SIP Working Committee, and his contingent conducted a survey of the water system in SIP on July 25, learning about the effectiveness of blue-green algae control and water environment improvement.
The survey team visited one of the blue-green algae control sites in the Jinji Lake water system, where the water ecosystem has been restored and well maintained by virtue of the symbiotic system composed of the “underwater forest”, aquatic animals and the microflora.
The survey team then visited the West Yangcheng Lake ecological restoration project, which is designed to restore a 330,000-square-meter wetland. In the process, the survey team observed the water quality and listened to the project undertaker’s introduction to the plan and progress of the project.
The survey team also visited a construction site where a tunnel was being built under the lake. They learned details about the planning for the project and the water environment management measures adopted during the construction.
Shen said new concepts and innovative working mechanisms should be employed to improve river and lake management, and gave specific instructions on flood prevention, ecological environment improvement and other work.
