Shen Mi, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Suzhou Committee and secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, and his contingent conducted a survey on elderly services in SIP on Dec 11.
The survey team visited Suzhou Industrial Park Elderly Care Industry Development Co Ltd which was founded in June under SIP’s plan of boosting “silver economy”, learning about its operations and future plans.
At the symposium, the survey team and the company’s executives discussed a series of issues concerning building of facilities for elderly residents, home-based care for the aged, supply of products and services for the elderly, integration of elderly care industry with culture, tourism and sports industries, etc.
The survey team also visited a nursing home opened by the company in September. The nursing home, with 270 beds, provides daily care, cultural and recreational activities, nutritious food and psychological assistance to the aged.
The survey team also toured around SIP Southern Citizen Center, which consists of a library, the exhibition hall of Xietang Sub-district, a general service station, and spaces for art, sports and recreational activities. Shen hoped the center could further expand its public services to fulfill the nearby residents’ needs for life services and recreation.
