Jointly sponsored by Suzhou Dushu Lake Startup Development Center and NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute, the 2024 Suzhou Immersion Programme was held in SIP from July 30 to Aug 1.
The event attracted 43 students from 14 universities including the National University of Singapore (NUS), University of Edinburgh, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology of China, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Soochow University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and North China Electric Power University.
A number of entrepreneurs from Chinese and Singaporean companies gave lectures on startup operation and related support policies to the students, and several experts shared with them their insights on the trends of scientific and technological innovations in China and Singapore.
The students presented 17 projects in the roadshow which was part of the programme, and the winners of the top three places were declared after expert evaluation. These projects, focused on biomedicine, AI, ecological restoration, machine manufacturing and so on, received high comments from the experts.
The students also visited SIP’s BioBAY and AI Industry Park, gaining an all-around understanding of the development of emerging industries in SIP, and experienced traditional Chinese culture by learning to make waist fans with Song brocade, a kind of brocade developed during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
