The exhibition themed “Van Gogh and His Friends”, originally scheduled at SIP’s Ming Gallery of Art from Mar 16 to August 30, has become a permanent exhibition in the gallery, according to the latest news.
This means people in SIP can see 53 authentic works created by Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt van Rijn and other Western artists at any time to seek a deep understanding of the Western art history from the 17th to 20th centuries.
The exhibits, featuring a baroque, neo-classical, impressionistic, naturalistic or expressionistic style, have thus far attracted more than 30,000 visitors from 100-plus cities in over 10 countries.
According to Yang Hui, the curator of the gallery, these exhibits all come from Zhang Jiu, a collector in Nanjing, and his son Zhang Siyuan. He said further cooperation will be carried out to set up an international art study, collection and exhibition center in the gallery to promote interactions between Eastern and Western cultures and arts.
In addition, Yang said the “Night at Ming Gallery” series including concerts and salon sessions will be held at the gallery on Saturdays.
