Over 40 expatriates from different countries and regions participated in the event held in Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District on Sept 11 to experience and explore traditional Chinese culture.
In the event, the expats learned to wear traditional Chinese costumes and gained a better understanding of clothes worn by ancient Chinese people in different historical periods.
Then the participants learned to make snow-skin mooncakes. Mooncakes are typically eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival which, reckoned on the fifteenth day of the eighth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, will fall on Sept 17 this year. They take on a variety of forms and can have many auspicious meanings in Chinese culture.
The expats also tried to make lacquer-coated fans with traditional craft.
