The French part of the 2024 (3rd) Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Culture and Art Week opened in Montmartre, Paris, France on Oct 11 (local time), while the Chinese part is underway in SIP.
Jointly sponsored by SIP Culture, Sports and Tourism Office and Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, the event, scheduled from Oct 5 to 20, is of great significance for Chinese-French exchanges and cooperation.
At the event, SIP Culture, Sports and Tourism Office gave the participants from France a specific introduction to the advantages, culture, industrial clusters, investment environment and business services of SIP and the city of Suzhou where it is located, inviting French cultural enterprises and investors to invest in SIP.
A performance of Kunqu opera, one of the oldest forms of Chinese opera, and an SIP-themed photography exhibition, kicked off at the same time.
M. Eric Lejoindre, mayor of the 18th arrondissement of Paris, visited the Jiangnan culture-themed fair where he and his contingent learned about diverse intangible cultural heritage elements originated from Suzhou and talked with the representatives from SIP-based catering service enterprises and art galleries.
Le Figaro, a daily newspaper in France, covered the event on the same day, which, plus the reports by 33 French media organizations since early this month, has increased locals’ interest in the event.
The SIP delegation visited a number of cultural and art organizations and the SKEMA Business School in Paris, hoping to promote exchanges and cooperation. The delegation members also participated in the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre (Grape Harvest Festival in Montmartre) in traditional costumes made of silk produced in Suzhou.
