The Grand Theatre of Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre in SIP was full of audiences on the night of Nov 30 as a concert encompassing a list of classic Italian music works was staged jointly by world-famous conductor Riccardo Muti, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra Choir and Tianjin Conservatory of Music Youth Choir.
The concert was the first performance under the “Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy ― China” project that was launched in SIP on Nov 23 for a group of young conductors and singers from different countries to take part in a series of courses and rehearsals.
The “Norma (Overture)” by Vincenzo Bellini, the “La Forza del Destino (Overture)” by Giuseppe Verdi, the “William Tell (Overture)” by Gioachino Rossini, and the “Cavalleria Rusticana” by Pietro Mascagni were performed.
It is worth mentioning that Vincenzo Costanzo, one of the youngest tenors on the world opera scene, Francesca Di Sauro, an outstanding mezzo-soprano, and Serban Vasile, a baritone, joined the stage.
The young artists from “Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy ― China” project also had excellent performance in the event.
