The enthusiasm of Suzhou’s fans for the ACGN (animation, comic, game and novel) culture peaked as a special spot was formally opened at Star Mall on Aug 23 in SIP for them.

The mall has achieved an increase of 34% in customer footfall since its reopening one month ago after a renovation project which has enabled it to highlight the ACGN culture.

Over 40 ACGN brands have confirmed to set up stores in it, and 16 of them have started operations in it, including eight that are the first of its kind in Suzhou and three that are the first of its kind in SIP.

The mall is full of ACGN peripheral products, such as those derived from popular animated cartoons Slam Dunk and Detective Conan. Cosplayers stream into the mall.

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), a cooperative university founded by China’s Xi’an Jiaotong University and the UK’s University of Liverpool in SIP, has inaugurated its practice base at the mall. The two parties plan to organize a series of ACGN-related events that can help the school’s students improve their practical ability and spirit of innovation.
