The 2024 (15th) Lake Cup Regatta (LCR) is set to take place in SIP from Oct 17 to 20, according to the news briefing held at Jinji Station 06, SIP on Oct 10.

Initiated in 2011, the annual LCR has become a brand event in SIP, attracting a large number of professional sailors and sailing enthusiasts each year. It has been included in the “List of Regattas in China” and honored an “Excellent Mass Regatta from 2021 to 2022” by the Chinese Yachting Association.

This year’s event is sponsored by Suzhou Rui’an Multimedia Company, and jointly organized by Suzhou Baqi Sailing Club and New Era Group with the assistance from Suzhou Yachting Association and Suzhou Harmony Development Group Co Ltd.

Over 20 teams from around the country will compete in the event. Among the contestants will be a number of expatriates from the United States, Russia, Switzerland, Italy and other countries, including many who work and live in SIP.

The event will be launched at the Jinji Station 06 which was recently opened near Jinji Lake as a place for tourists to take a rest during their tours.

In addition to the sailing races, there will be opportunities for the participants to experience the sport of sailing free of charge, and also parties, fairs, exhibitions, and performances.
